British Athletics Supporters Club

Aims

To encourage support for athletics at all levels, including support of national teams at home or abroad.

To promote interest in, and provide information about, the sport of athletics and to create opportunities for athletes, supporters and coaches to meet.

To assist in the development of athletics in association with the various governing bodies.

Awards

All awards are funded by the generous voluntary donations sent in by BASC members.

Male and Female Young Athlete Awards
To make specific annual awards to those under 17 years of age at the time of an outstanding performance, as nominated by members.

Ron Pickering Coaching Award
To make an award to an outstanding young coach of young athletes, taking into account the degree of sponsorship and support available to the individual.

Susanna Ingram Award
To make an annual award to a disability athlete in memory of a late committee and club member and passionate athletics supporter.

BASC Athlete of the Year Award
Voted for by members of the club, this annual award is made to the outstanding British athlete in the opinion of supporters of British athletics.

Katharine Merry Trophy

Named after the BASC's Patron Athlete, this award is made to a junior female athlete for an outstanding championship performance during the previous year.

Ron Jewkes Cup

Awarded in memory of a long-serving supporter and track and field official, this award is made to a junior male athlete for an outstanding championship performance during the previous year.

Publications

The club’s magazine “Backtrack” is published three times a year and sent to members, including reports, features, news, information and correspondence. An annual yearbook containing statistical data and information relating to major championships is also produced.

Events at Home and Abroad

The club organises special allocations of excellent tickets for virtually all the main events at home and abroad, including all major championships. These usually include (if required) accommodation and travel arrangements. Ticket information and tour plans are circulated regularly to members.
