Playground to Podium (P2P) – Athletics

Athletics is one of six sports involved with Playground to Podium (P2P) and we are keen to develop the programme as a ‘feeder’ into Parallel Success so that young disabled people who are engaged in P2P can become part of the NGB Programme and develop further in the sport.

Athletics Coaches will be present at each County Athlete Assessment & Development Centre (CAADC) and we are very pleased to have three Disability Athletics Support Officers (DASOs) who are leading on P2P in England. Each DASO is linked to the England Athletics Teams based in the North, Midlands and South of the Country.

UKA, through the DASOs, will support disabled athletes to access their local athletics club as we firmly believe in an inclusive approach. Local athletics clubs can offer advice and guidance around event specific coaching and the fundamental skills of athletics which are vital for athletes getting started in the sport.

We encourage athletes to complete the ‘Athlete Tracker Form’ so that we can ensure athletes receive all relevant information about upcoming opportunities.
