Boosting our athletics clubs
There are two key cornerstones of our sport:
Whilst Athletics is totally committed to supporting both in an effort to build long term success and succeed in growing the next generation of senior athletics champions our partnership with McCain is focused on ensuring a successful legacy for the sport can be built through investing energy and resources to support clubs to develop themselves and the opportunities they present to existing and prospective members.
Our Clubs are crucial in growing and retaining participation levels in the sport as well as providing a foundation for talent identification and nurture. McCain Athletics Networks (MAN) are now out there, building to a countrywide total of over 50 MANs by April 2010.
There are 4 major drivers for Athletic Networks
-
To grow and sustain participation levels in the sport
-
To improve the quality of experience for all participants
-
To improve levels of athlete performance
-
To lay the foundations for the next generation of champions
McCain Athletics Networks are already in place in England with Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish MAN’s to be announced in January 2010.

You can currently use the UKA club search facility to find your nearest club and you will soon see the McCain Athletics Network logo on their info page to indicate their membership of an MAN.
You may also see a Clubmark logo which denotes a club that has achieved this status - Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
