In the men’s triple jump, World champion Phillips Idowu (Belgrave) recorded a season’s best of 17.00m but was still down in fourth place behind Alexis Copello (Cuba) 17.23m, Christian Olsson (Sweden) 17.07m and David Giralt (Cuba) 17.06m while Nathan Douglas (Oxford City) finished in sixth place with 16.49m. Damien Moss (Rugby & Northampton) finished in fifth place in the 800m ‘B’ race recording 1:51.12.

Kate Dennison (Sale Harriers Manchester) finished in sixth place in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.51m.

Irish Indoor Championships, Belfast 6 February

Tom Bosworth (Tonbridge) who is at Leeds Met where he is based at the UK National Race Walking Centre at Carnegie, moved to 3rd on the UK Under 23 All Time List when setting a new personal best for 5km clocking 20:45.60 in fifth place behind winner Robert Heffernan (Togher) 19:24.64, runner-up Colin Griffin (Ballinamore) 19:47.34 and bronze medalist Jamie Costin (West Waterford) 19:48.73. His performance ranks him behind Daniel King 20:24.04 and Phil Vesty 20:30.62.
