Identifying Talent

Parallel Success Identifying Talent

Identifying ‘talent’ is something that is very difficult to quantify at grassroots level. Having asked a number of coaches to describe what a 'talented athlete' looks like there have been a number of responses, from somebody who has commitment, dedication, raw talent and drive through to someone who has the power, strength and physical capabilities to succeed.

We are asking that you transfer your existing skills and knowledge about ‘talent’ to the disabled athletes who also want to succeed. Athletics has a wide range of options and the different events can ensure that everybody is catered for. We need to ensure that disabled people consider athletics and are supported to try the sport.

The best place to get an opportunity to try the sport and work with coaches to find the most appropriate event is an Athletics Club, while this may sound obvious, most disabled people don’t consider this to be an option. If you would like advice or guidance on finding your local opportunities please contact UKA - use the contact form in this section.

There are also a number of Aviva Parallel Success opportunities that can be found on the website - just keep on eye on these pages for more information.
